Box Score SAN BERNARDINO – The scoreboard showed a 76-73 overtime loss for the Coyotes in their game against No. 17 Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday night.
What it did not show was a team that played 45 minutes of inspired basketball against a team that won by 28 points in Pomona more than two months ago.
Down 66-63 with five seconds remaining in regulation, sophomore guard
Alexcia Mack stepped up from the top of the 3-point circle and buried the three to tie the game and send it into overtime.
The Coyotes (4-13 overall, 3-11 CCAA) did not lead in the extra period, but closed to within a point (74-73) on
Adriana Brodie's jumper with 36 seconds left.
The Broncos then held possession and after a timeout, Tyler Woods was fouled by
Trinidee Trice with 13 seconds left.
She hit both shots and the Coyotes brought the ball down court and time was called with nine seconds.
When play resumed, the Coyotes were bottled up and time expired before they could offer up another potential game-tying three.
Trice led the Coyotes with 20 points to lead four players in double figures. The senior was 7-of-20 from the floor.
Alexcia Mack had 15 with five assists and
Tayllor Gipson was solid with 13 with a season-best seven assists.
Freshman
Tatiana Dunlap was outstanding in 27 minutes off the bench. She earned her first double-double of her career with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
