Box Score ROHNERT PARK (Dec. 5, 2014) -- Grabbing the lead from the outset and forcing your opponent to a poor shooting percentage appears to be a winning recipe for the 13th-ranked Coyotes this season.
For the fifth straight game CSUSB held its foe to a field goal percentage less than 40 percent en route to a convincing 70-52 victory over host Sonoma State in both teams' CCAA women's basketball opener Friday night.
The victory pushed CSUSB to a 5-0 overall record and its best start in four seasons.
Brianna Harden continued to impress with her fourth double-double, earning game-highs in points (21) and rebounds (15). She hit 7-of-11 field goals and was 7-of-10 from the free throw line in a whopping 37 minutes.
Four other Coyotes scored in double figures wtih Alexcia Mack and Adriana Brodie with 12 each and Chelsea Barnes 11.
CSUSB scored the game's first six points and never allowed SSU to get closer than three in the first half. The Coyotes enjoyed a 40-26 lead at the break and pushed the lead to 25 when Barnes rang up a three-pointer with 13:54 remaining that put them ahead 56-31.
Defensively, CSUSB totaled nine steals wthi Briana Baker leading with three and Harden and Bisera Peshkova with two each.
On the glass, the Coyotes held a 44-33 advantage. After Harden, Brodie had nine with Chelsea Austin grabbing seven. Barnes had six.
Hannah Sourek led the Seawolves (1-3 overall) with 12 points. They shot just 36.7 percent on 22 of 60.
The Coyotes complete the weekend Saturday at San Francisco State.
