Box Score ARCATA (Oct. 12, 2014) -- Sophomore
Kiana Quarles' goal in the 59th minute of play provided the difference as No. 25 Cal State San Bernardino snapped its three-game losing streak in its 1-0 win over Humboldt State in CCAA women's soccer Sunday.
Quarles scored her fifth goal of the season when she received the ball from senior
Jillian Seminara, who passed the ball from the midfield line. Quarles controlled the ball and played over the goal keeper's head in the 59th minute.
CSUSB (10-3, 3-3 CCAA) locked down the Lumberjacks' efforts on the offensive end, limiting HSU to just two shots on goal -- one in each half.
Coach
Travis Clarke credited his crew with better rate of aggression.
"We pressed the ball for the entire 90 minutes,'' he said. "Our work rate was much better today and it paid off with the win.''
Sophomore GK
Emily Whyte earned the shutout and improved to 9-3 overall.
The Coyotes return to Coyotes Premier Field for their next four games, playing Cal State Stanislaus on Friday.
HSU is 6-6, 1-5.
