Tayllor Gipson earned a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, but the Coyotes fell just short against Chico State, losing 67-64 in CCAA basketball Friday night at Coussoulis Arena.
The Coyotes held the lead on four different occasions in the final half, but couldn't push the lead past one points as they fell to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in the CCAA.
Mack was perfect in eight free throw attempts and Gipson added five assists with three steals.
Down 28-10 with 7:38 remaining in the first half, the Coyotes bounced back with an impressive 14-5 run over the next five-plus minutes and pulled to within one point on
Jenna Klein's 3-pointer with 2 minutes left and down 33-32.
CSUSB grabbed its first lead of the game on freshman

They led as late as 5:49 left on
Trinidee Trice's jumper that made the score 55-54.
However, Chico State stayed within a point with three ties over the next three minutes.
Chico State's Analise Riezebos' jumper gave her team the lead for good at 63-61 with 2:15 remaining.
But all night long, the Coyotes hung in there and got within a point (65-64) when Mack fired in a jumper with 49 seconds left.
But the back-breaker arrived when Courtney Hamilton drove down the left baseline and scored on a layup 19 seconds later.
Chico State took advantage of the Coyotes' 21 turnovers, outscoring CSUSB 23-12 off miscues.
The Wildcats (6-3, 2-3) were led by reserve Hannah Womack's 14 points on 6-of-6 free throws.
CSUSB returns to the court Saturday night against Cal State Stanislaus.
