Coyotes fall short in 2-1 loss at Cal State L.A.

Laris ends CSUSB's scoreless streak

Box Score LOS ANGELES Omar Laris gave the Coyotes their first goal in more than 300 hundred minutes, but host Cal State L.A. answered back with a pair of goals in a 2-1 CSUSB defeat in CCAA men's soccer Sunday afternoon.

The loss was CSUSB's fourth straight and puts the Coyotes at 4-4-2 overall and 2-4 in the CCAA heading into Friday's contest at Chico State.

Laris put the Coyotes on the scoreboard in the 31st minute. He scored on a through ball to the corner with the assist from Andre Spencer Jr.

Thirteen minutes later, Halil Tozar scored his third goal of the season on a left-foot shot and the teams went into halftime tied at 1-1.

But at the 56-minute mark, Dane Nielsen gave the Golden Eagles the lead for good on a cross from Tozar.

Roberto Gonzalez earned the start for the Coyotes. He had seven saves.
