ARCATA – No. 6 Humboldt State proved Friday afternoon why it won the CCAA regular-season softball title, taking a pair from the visiting Coyotes, 10-1 in the first game and 19-2 in the second.

Both games were called after 5 innings.

CSUSB, now 18-34 overall and 12-22 CCAA, will complete the 2013 season Saturday afternoon against the Lumberjacks (42-12, 29-5).

Game 1: Humboldt State 10, Coyotes 1 (5 innings)
Monica Ferguson gave the Coyotes a 1-0 lead when she lifted a single to center that scored Charlotte Galzote, who also reached base on a single.

However, the Lumberjacks grabbed control with a three-run third inning, added five in the fourth and ended the game in the fifth when Chrissy Stalf came through with a two-run home run, her league-leading 22nd of the season.

All five Coyotes' hits were singles.

Game 2: Humboldt State 19, Coyotes 2 (5 innings)
Stalf continued her season of solid play with two home runs as Humboldt State sent 14 batters to the plate in the first inning and scored nine runs.

The Lumberjacks totaled five home runs off the four Coyotes' pitchers.

Ferguson had two hits and Charlotte Galzote and Jacqueline Lopez had the others.
