Box Score 2 SAN FRANCISCO -- The Coyotes were dealt a tough afternoon at the hands of San Francisco State, losing 5-0 and 5-4 in eight innings in teams' CCAA softball doubleheader Friday.
The Coyotes (17-32 overall, 11-19 CCAA) and Gators (19-27, 11-19) complete their weekend series Saturday at 11 a.m.
Game 1: SF State 5, Coyotes 0
Marissa Ibarra threw a two-hit shuout and the Gators got all the runs they needed int the first inning.
Kylie Grabowksi and Lucy Fernandez had consecutive RBI singles and the Gators added their three other runs in the fourth.
Jamie Leffingwell and
Darian Manuz each singled for the Coyotes.
Kacey Cota took the loss. She gave up five hits and four of her runs allowed were earned.
Game 2: SF State 5, Coyotes 4 (8 innings)
Alyssa Flores had a two-run single and
Monica Ferguson followed with an RBI-single as the Coyotes grabbed a 3-0 lead in the third.
SF State came back to tie the game in the third, but CSUSB regained the lead in the fourth.
Melissa Roberts, who pinch-hit for
Na'Tavia Lee, gave the Coyotes a 4-3 lead on a sacrifice fly to right that scored
Victoria Lievanos, who led off the inning with a single.
But the Gators scratched the tying run across in the sixth and then scored the game-winning run in the eighth.
Ashley Huff hit a two-out triple and scored on Gabby Reta's single.
The Coyotes had seven hits.
