Monica Ferguson put the Coyotes on the scoreboard with a three-run double in the fourth inning, but that was it for CSUSB, which lost 12-3 in the opener against Sonoma State in a game called after five innings.
Sonoma State's Samantha Lipperd threw a one-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks. Two of the three runs on Ferguson's double were earned.
The Coyotes were swept in the doubleheader as Sonoma State earned a 4-2 win in the second game.
Down 4-0 through five innings, the Coyotes cut the deficit in half with a two-run sixth.
Jamie Leffingwell's single down the left-field line scored
Alyssa Flores, who led off the inning with a single to right. Leffingwell late scored on a bases-loaded walk to
Victoria Lievanos.
Leffingwell had two hits to pace the Coyotes, now 8-16 overall and 5-9 CCAA.
Ferguson had the game's only extra-base hit; a double in the sixth.
