Box Score
SAN BERNARDINO – Junior Tayllor Gipson has created an impact in the month of February and came through again for the Coyotes on Friday night.

Gipson scored a game-high 18 points off the bench as four Coyotes scored in double figures in their 65-57 victory over visiting Cal Poly Pomona before a crowd of 352 at Coussoulis Arena.

The victory snapped CSUSB's four-game losing streak against the Broncos as they improved to 8-11 overall and 6-9 in the CCAA. CPP dropped to 11-8, 9-6.

The Coyotes grabbed the lead for good on Nicole Chapple's layup with 14:49 remaining in the first half and CSUSB up 8-7. But one would be mistaken to think this was a one-sided game as CPP closed the gap late in the game.

Gipson gave the Coyotes their largest lead of the game when she hit a jumper that put them up 47-36 with 8:13 remaining in the game.

The Broncos struck with a 10-0 run over the next two-plus minutes and drew within a point – 47-46 – with 5:13 left.

Gipson stopped the run cold with her second 3-pointer of the game at the 5-minute mark and her squad never let the lead drop below three the rest of the way.

Gipson was 8-of-12 shooting with five rebounds in 28 minutes. In just the last three games, she has averaged 18 points  -- more than 11 points better than her season average.

Her effort off the bench was followed by junior Nicole Chapple's 12 points – 10 in the first half. Senior Eliza Dy added 11 points with a team-high eight points at the free throw line. Freshman Alexcia Mack added 10 points with four assists.

All season the Coyotes have had difficulty getting to the line until Friday when they scored a season-best 20 on 28 attempts.

CPP, which played without its top scorer Jennifer Judge, was led by Ashley Boggs' 15 points.

The Coyotes forced 22 CPP turnovers and held the Broncos to only 17 field goals.
