Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Coyotes earned a win and a loss in Friday's first-round play of the NFCA Leadoff Classic.

The Coyotes faced Colorado Mesa in the opener and lost 9-2. Colorado Mesa scored five runs in the second and three in the sixth.

Britney Butler went 3-for-4 with a triple and Monica Ferguson was 2-for-3 with a double.

The Coyotes came back to earn a 9-6 win over Chowan (N.C.) in the second game.

Butler added another 3-for-4 game with a triple, and Alyssa Flores had three hits and Charlotte Galzote added two hits.
CSUSB (3-5 overall) faces Dixie State and West Texas A&M on Saturday.
