Hot-shooting Chico State tops Coyotes, 81-61

Gipson records game-high points and rebounds

Freshman Adriana Brodie scored a season-high 15 points in the game against Chico State.
Box Score CHICO -- No. 11 Chico State shot the lights out and stopped the Coyotes cold in the second half in an 81-61 decision Friday night in CCAA women's basketball.

The loss snapped the Coyotes' winning streak at two and they will take a 9-12 overall and 7-10 CCAA records into Saturday's game at last-place Cal State Stanislaus. The Wildcats are 19-2 and remain on top of the CCAA at 15-2.

CSUSB played well in the first half, hitting 55.6 percent of its shots. However, the host Wildcats were just a little bit better, hitting 60.7 percent from the field for a 39-33 lead at the break.

Once the second half began, it was all Chico State as they kept up the pressure. For the game, the Wildcats hit 59.3 percent field goals on 32-of-54 shooting.

Junior Tayllor Gipson continues to be a key story for the Coyotes in the second half of conference play. She scored a game-high 17 points -- all off the bench -- and her nine rebounds also were a game high.

Freshman Adriana Brodie played her finest game of the year with 15 points, five rebounds in a starting role. Junior Trinidee Trice was the only other Coyote in double figures with 10.

Four players were in double figures for Chico State, led by Monni Davidson-Mays with 15. Courtney Hamilton had a game-high 10 assists.
