Coyotes suffer 1-0 loss to Cal State L.A.

CSUSB clings to one-point South lead entering Sunday against CSUDH

Chelsey Jones had seven saves against CSULA.
Box Score SAN BERNARDINO – The CCAA-South leading Coyotes looked to gain some distance from the pack in their game against the South's second-best team in Cal State L.A. on Friday afternoon.

But it was the Golden Eagles who closed the gap on the Coyotes' lead when Andrea Lammers connected on a goal in the 80th minute that was the difference maker in a 1-0 CSULA victory.

CSUSB dropped to 9-5-2 overall and 7-4-2 in the CCAA, just one point ahead of the Golden Eagles, who are now 8-4-3 and 6-4-3.

The Coyotes were out-shot 17-9 and had just four shots on goal against CSULA's Yi Du.

Chelsey Jones had seven saves on the day.

The Golden Eagles struck when Lammers connected on a scrum for the ball right in front of the net. Her aim was true and the Coyotes totaled three shots afterward, with shots on goal from freshman Paige Kang and junior Kellie Valverde, but to no avail.

CSUSB looks to snap its two-game losing streak Sunday against Cal State Dominguez Hills.
