Coyotes stopped 1-0 by Sonoma State

Freshman Tigran Tiraturyan had one SOG for CSUSB.
Box Score SAN BERNARDINO – The story all season long for the 2013 Coyotes has been their propensity of playing in one-goal games.

Unfortunately, those one-goal games have gone the other way for CSUSB, which was dealt a 1-0 loss by visiting Sonoma State in CCAA men's soccer Sunday at Coyote Premier Field.

The Coyotes played their 10th game – all in the CCAA – that has been decided by one goal. Their two wins in conference were 1-0 victories, but since the Sept. 15 victory at Cal State East Bay, CSUSB has gone winless in their last 10 games and eight times they have lost by a one-goal margin.

Sonoma State's Taylor Varnadore scored the game's only goal in the 24th minute on a header that slipped just under the top, left-side post.

Jeff Salt had two saves for the Coyotes. Offensively, CSUSB totaled 14 shots with five SOG. Juan Gonzalez had three shots and five others – Corey Hostetter, Larry Llamas, Corey Christ, Tigran Tiraturyan and Omar Laris – had the shots on goal.

CSUSB (4-9-3, 2-9-1 CCAA) returns to Coyote Premier Field on Friday against Cal State L.A.

Sonoma State is 6-4-4, 5-4-3.
