Cosey, Trice reach double figures against CSUMB

Coyotes handed 55-47 loss to host Otters

Senior Jaslyn Cosey scored 12 points for the Coyotes against CSUMB.
Box Score SEASIDE -- A rough second half cost Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday night in a 55-47 loss to Cal State Monterey Bay in CCAA women's basketball.

The Coyotes (6-8 overall, 4-6 CCAA) scored just 19 points in the final 20 minutes and had a 10-point second-half lead evaporate against the Otters (9-3, 6-3).

Senior Jaslyn Cosey had 13 points on 5-of-19 shooting to lead the Coyotes in scoring. Junior Trinidee Trice added 10.

The Otters outscored the Coyotes 11-2 from the free throw line in the second half and shot 48 percent from the floor for the eight-point win.

CSUSB looked as if it had control of the game in the first half as they held the Otters to just one field goal over an eight-minute plus span and grabbed a 28-17 lead at the half.

The Otters chipped away at the deficit. Tayllor Gipson's jumper with 8:22 left tied the game at 40-40, but over the next three minutes, CSUMB outscored the Coyotes 6-0 and remained out front for the remainder of the game.

Nikki Beckman was the only Otter to score in double digits with 12.

The Coyotes return to the Bay Area next week when they take on Sonoma State on Friday night.
