Coyotes run out of time in 57-54 loss

-- Cal State San Bernardino trailed the entire 40 minutes Friday night, but made a valiant run late in a 57-54 loss to host Cal State East Bay in CCAA women's basketball.

The Coyotes, who are now 6-7 overall and 4-5 CCAA, wrap up the weekend Saturday at Cal State Monterey Bay.

CSUSB trailed by as many as 21 points in the first half and went into halftime 32-20.

But the Coyotes steadily cut into the Pioneers' lead and that patience paid off as they orchestrated a 14-4 run capped by Trinidee Trice's layup wtih 6:26 remaining to draw within a point, 44-43.

However, CSUEB never let go of the lead despite the Coyotes getting within two points on four separate occasions inside the game's final 5:50.

Freshman Alexcia Mack led the Coyotes with 12 points off the bench and senior Eliza Dy and Trice each had 10 as CSUSB fired 33.8 percent from the field on 22 of 65 shots.

Marlene MacMillan scored a game-high 15 points with 11 rebounds.

CSUEB improvd to 5-7, 3-5.
