SAN BERNARDINO -- Senior forward
Jani Carmona-Urbano scored a pair of goals as CSUSB rallied for three unanswered goals and turned back visiting Cal Baptist 3-1 before a crowd of 167 at Coyote Premier Field on Tuesday morning.
Freshman Taylor Silva added the other goal for the Coyotes, who improved to 1-0-1 overall and now prepare for their California Collegiate Athletic Association opener against visiting Cal Poly Pomona on Friday. Kickoff is 12:30 p. m.
The Coyotes found themselves trailing 1-0 when Daelyn Paul gave the Lancers the lead in the 17th minute. Kelly Jenks found Paul in the box and Paul knocked in a two-footer and to the left of Coyotes' GK

CBU's lead remained until Carmona-Urbano struck gold with 92 seconds remaining in the half. The Coyotes lined up for a corner kick at the far end and freshman
Soleil Hall found an open Carmona-Urbano from 25 yards out. She delivered a strike past the Lancers'
Katie Rumfola and the score was tied at 1-1 at the break.
The Coyotes took the lead for good at the 67th minute when Carmona-Urbano took a feed from sophomore
Kelly Keyes. The senior changed direction and placed the ball to the far right side for the tally.
Silva added the Coyotes' final score in the 76th minute. She collected a pass from the left side from Hall and charged through with the goal.
Jones had two saves for the win as the Coyotes out-shot the Lancers 17-9.
The Lancers dropped to 0-1-1.
NOTES: The Coyotes improved their series record against the Lancers to 6-2-0 as the teams met for the first time in 12 seasons... The last time the teams met was on Sept. 8, 2001 -- a 2-1 CBU victory. It marked the sixth time that Carmona-Urbano scored multiple goals. Her last was against Humboldt State last season when she scored on two penalty kicks to give the Coyotes a 2-1 win.
