Coyotes handed first loss of the season

Thompson's crew goes down to defeat, 2-0 against UCSD

Box Score: UC San Diego 2, Coyote 0

LA JOLLA
-- Five shots on goal could not solve UCSD's goalkeeper Camero McElfresh as the Coyotes were shut out 2-0 to the Tritons in CCAA men's soccer Sunday.

The loss was CSUSB's first this season through one month of the 2012 campaign. The Coyotes (3-1-6 overall, 3-1-4 CCAA) resume play Sunday when they play at Sonoma State.

UCSD (6-2-2, 5-1-2) grabbed the lead at the 12-minute mark on Evan Walker's unassisted goal. They added the final goal with 11 minutes remaining in the game from Will Pleskow.

Senior All-American GK Tanner Olinger had three saves in the loss.

Freshman Ricardo Velasco led CSUSB with four shots -- all on goal.
