POMONA -- Watching
Jasmine Bell play her defender position, one quickly figures out that the San Diego native is one of the best at her position in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
The junior plays under control for 90 minutes and may well be one of the most fit athletes in Coyotes athletics. She never seems to tire in a game where followers estimate a player can run the equivalent of six miles in a game.
On Sunday, Bell showed she can be a factor on offense as well as she fired in a point-blank shot from three yards out as her CSUSB soccer team earned a 1-1 tie against Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday in CCAA soccer at Kellogg Field.
In the game's waning moments, Bell found herself on the receiving end of a cross from freshman
Guadalupe Lara in the 74th minute and made sure the shot counted on the scoreboard. It was Bell's first goal in 2012.
CSUSB now takes a 4-2-1 overall mark and 3-2-1 CCAA slate into Friday's game at home against Cal State L.A. Kickoff is 12:30 p.m.
CPP (2-4-1, 0-4-1) took a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick from Cindy Paez in the 40th minute.
The teams combined for 43 shots with nine SOG from CPP and six from CSUSB.
Senior GK
Priscilla Collings earned the start for the Coyotes and finished with eight saves.
