Box Score: Coyotes 1, UC San Diego 1

SAN BERNARDINO
-- Freshman Ricardo Velasco took advantage of his penalty kick opportunity and that served as the Coyotes' only goal in Sunday's 1-1 double overtime tie against UC San Diego at Coyote Premier Field.

The end resulted in establishing a school record for most ties in a season as CSUSB takes its 1-0-5 overall record and 1-0-3 CCAA slate into Friday's game at San Francisco State.

UCSD grabbed the lead in the 23rd minutes when Gavin Lamming scored on a header on a beautiful feed from Andisheh Bagheri. Lamming placed himself on the right post and secured the ball on a perfectly executed cross. The play forced Coyotes' GK to commit to one side and Lamming positioned a header inside the net.

CSUSB, which totaled 14 shots on the day and nine SOG, tied the game at 1-1 when Velasco took the penalty kick at the 77th minute. He beat Triton's GK Josh Cohen on the right side.

UCSD had nine shots combined in the overtimes and CSUSB had four, but Olinger and Cohen proved to be lights-out in the nets.

Junior defender Lee Nishanian had three SOG and Velasco and freshman Leo Mendoza each had two shots on goal.

Olinger finished with 12 saves. The goal by Lamming was the Coyote All-American's first this season.

Bagheri had four SOG and Jacob Valadez had three for the Tritons, now 3-2-1, 2-1-1.
