Box Score: Cal State Dominguez Hills 12, Coyotes 5
CARSON -- Cal State San Bernardino was held to just four hits as the host Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros earned the second win of the four-game series, winning 12-5 in CCAA baseball Friday afternoon.
The series and regular season concludes for both teams Saturday as the Coyotes return to Fiscalini Field for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. as the Coyotes celebrate Senior Day and will honor their 15 seniors in a pregame ceremony before the opener.
CSUSB grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first on
Paul Eshleman's sacrifice fly to center that scored
Ethan Chapman.
But the Coyotes didn't score again until a four-run eighth inning, but the Toros scored 12 unanswered runs for a commanding lead.
In fact, despite Toros RHP Danny Torres struggles finding the plate -- he offered five walks and two hit batters -- the Coyotes struggled to get their first base hit of the game until Eshleman's bunt single in the sixth and the Coyotes down 9-1.
Chapman, pinch-hitter
Andrew Harrison and
Matt Haney had the other hits for CSUSB -- all singles.
Coyotes LHP
Mike Mudron (6-1) was dealt his first loss of the season. He gave up five hits, seven runs -- all earned -- and allowed seven walks and one hit batter in 3 1/3 innings.
Freshman
Matt LeVert struck out three in 1 1/3 inning of relief.
