Alyssa Flores each had run-scoring hits and senior
Courtney Wilhelms threw a three-hitter as the Coyotes' softball team earned a split Friday against Cal State East Bay -- winning the second game 2-0 and losing the opener 5-3.
The Coyotes (17-24, 10-16) and Pioneers (24-19, 11-15) complete the weekend with a doubleheader Saturday.
Wilhelms struck out three, walked four for the victory. All three hits were singles.
The Coyotes got on the scoreboard in the fourth.
Alyssa Ramos, who pinch-ran for
Alyssa Flores, scored on Ybarra's one-out single through the left side.
Then in the fifth, Flores connected for a two-out single to right that scored Charlotte
Galzote, who reached base on an error by the second baseman to begin the inning.
Britney Butler had a double and a single, but the Coyotes allowed two home runs in the first inning as the Pioneers went on to earn a 5-3 win in the opener.
CSUEB later added three runs in the third and that was enough to secure the win.
Jamie Leffingwell and Ybarra each had two hits.
