TURLOCK -- Jamie Leffingwell's two-out single in the seventh scored Charlotte Galzote as the Coyotes defeated Dixie State 3-2 during continuing play in the Tournament of Champions, held at Cal State Stanislaus.

Alex Mitchell led the way with three hits and Galzote had two as the Coyotes defeated the Red Storm for the second time this season in four meetings.

The Coyotes grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Leffingwell reached base on an error that scored Mitchell, who led off with a single.

DSC tied the game with a run in the fourth, but CSUSB went up 2-1 in the fifth on Butler's solo home run to left.

DSC tied the game at 2-2 in the seventh, bringing the dramatic ending for CSUSB.

Senior Carly Land threw seven innings, scattered nine hits, but just two runs. She had three strikeouts and three walks.

CSUSB made it a perfect day wtih a 12-1 win over Western Oregon. (box score)

Leading 7-1 after six innings, the Coyotes scored five -- four on Butler's grand slam in the seventh to easily win.

Butler finished 3-for-5 and Mitchell went 5-for-5 with four RBI.

Land earned her second win of the day, giving up just four hits with two strikeouts in seven innings.
