Bryant Hollingsworth put forth a dominant performance for the Coyotes, striking out eight -- all looking -- in 7 2/3 innings and
Brandon Day helped the cause with a two-run home run in the first inning of a 7-2 win over visiting Cal Poly Pomona in CCAA play Saturday.

Hollingsworth (2-0) gave up five hits and allowed only two runs and confused the Broncos hitters all game long. Reliever
Tony Guerra added a pair of strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings.
Teammate
Curtis Cassise drew a five-pitch walk off Broncos starter Ryan Dunn and Day delivered a full count offering with a high shot over the right-center gap, about 385 feet.
In the third, CSUSB scored three runs on two hits.
Darren Dworak brought in the first run on a sacrifice fly to left that scored
Ethan Chapman. Senior Paul Eshlelman followed and laced a two-run double to center that scored Day and Cassise.
The Broncos added a run in the sixth and eighth, but this game belonged to CSUSB, which had a RBI-single from
Jake Pilkerton in the seventh.
Day was 3-for-4 with three runs. Chapman and
Mike Newell each had two hits.
Cal Poly Pomona 5, Coyotes 0 (box score)
The Broncos came back to earn the nightcap, 5-0, behind a fine efforrt from RHP Geoff Broussard. The Alta Loma native threw a three-hit shutout with six strikeouts.
Chapman, Dworak and
Matt Haney all had singles.
The Coyotes return to Fiscalini Field on Thursday when they open a four-game series against Chico State.
