SAN BERNARDINO --
Angela Streets hit a pair of consecutive 3-pointers inside the final three minutes of play to help the Coyotes earn their first win over a winning team this season with a 63-57 victory over visiting Cal State L.A. in CCAA women's basketball Saturday night.
Streets scored a game-high 25 points and hit all nine of her free-throw attempts and teammate
Eliza Dy added 16 for the Coyotes, who earned their first weekend sweep and improved to 7-13 overall and 6-10 in the CCAA.
The Coyotes outscored the Golden Eagles 27-6 at the 3-point line and hit 22-of-29 free throws to earn the six-point victory.
Streets gave the Coyotes their first lead in the second half on a 3-pointer that put CSUSB up 45-44 with 7:41 left.
The lead was traded five times in the next four minutes until Streets got the ball outside of the arc from Dy, and drained a 3 to put the Coyotes up 54-52 with 3 minutes left.
After junior
Jaslyn Cosey stole the ball from Maryum Jenkins, Dy got the ball and again fed Streets outside. She succeeded again from long distance and CSUSB led 57-52 with 1:35 left.
Twice the Golden Eagles cut the deficit to two, but freshman
Briana Baker and Dy each hit two free throws apiece in the final nine seconds for the win.
Dy also was perfect at the line -- 4-of-4 and hit two 3s. Cosey had eight, junior
Kristen Huffman seven and Baker five.
CSULA was led by Lacy Ramon and Jazzi Johnson with 15 each.
The Coyotes return to Coussoulis Arena on Friday night when they take on Cal State Stanislaus. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m.
