SAN BERNARDINO -- Trailing 5-4 entering the fourth inning, the Coyotes came back with a two-run fourth and senior
Courtney Wilhelms added a solo home run in the fifth as they went on to defeat visiting San Francisco State 7-6 in the second game of Friday's CCAA softball doubleheader.
The Coyotes, who lost the opener 5-2, will complete the weekend series against the Gators with an 11 a.m. doubleheader Saturday.

In the victory,
Alex Mitchell scored on a fielder's choice by
Brittney Ybarra, who advanced to third on the play on an infield error. One batter later,
Britney Butler lifted a fly to right that scored Ybarra and the Coyotes led 6-5.
Wilhelms then added her solo shot to lead-off the fifth.
Mitchell finished the game 2-for-4 with an RBI and Ybarra and Butler each had two RBI.
Wilhelms had the Coyotes' only extra-base hit.

Carly Land earned the win and improved to 1-3. She threw 6 2/3 innings and allowed nine hits, six runs -- all earned -- and struck out five with four walks. Freshman RHP
Abreanna Landeros came on in the seventh and earned the save. She faced two batters and gave up one hit.

In the opener, the Gators scored single runs in the each of the first three innings and added two in the fifth for the win.
Kelsey Murakami had a solo home run for the Gators and finished 3-for-4. Jordan Brenner, Lucy Fernandez and Cara Spence each had two hits apiece.
Alyssa Flores' hit a two-out solo home run for the Coyotes in the fourth. Ybarra had a run-scoring single that brought home Mitchell in the sixth.
Wilhelms (3-3) took the loss in 7 innings. She struck out five. At the plate, she led the Coyotes with a 3-for-3 effort that included a double.
