LA JOLLA – Cal State San Bernardino fell behind early against host UC San Diego and could not recover in a 57-34 defeat in California Collegiate Athletic Association women's basketball Sunday afternoon at RIMAC Arena.
The loss dropped the Coyotes to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the CCAA heading into Thursday night's game at Humboldt State.
UCSD never trailed and jumped out to a 14-3 lead with 11:44 remaining in the first half and remained in control for the entire game. The closest CSUSB drew within the Tritons' lead in the second half was 14 points.
The 34 points were the fewest scored in a game by the Coyotes in 11 seasons -- a 58-31 defeat to San Francisco State on Jan. 19, 2002.

Tayllor Gipson scored a team-high eight points for the Coyotes, who shot 25.9 percent from the floor and attempted a total of only two free throws.
