SAN BERNARDINO
-- A pair of second-half goals put visiting Chico State in the driver's seat as the Coyotes were defeated 2-0 in CCAA women's soccer Friday afternoon at Coyote Premier Field.

CSUSB (7-6-2 overall, 5-6-1 CCAA) was dealt its second straight defeat and looks to put aside the sting of the loss as it takes on Cal State Stanislaus on Sunday for Senior Day. The Coyotes were honor their six seniors in a pregame ceremony.

Chico State (6-9, 4-8) got on the board on an odd play that at one time looked as if it was an own goal allowed by CSUSB. But upon further review,  Megan Tabler was properly credited on the goal.

At the 57th minute, the Wildcats set up for a corner kick on their right side of the field. The ball worked its way to Tabler, who headed the ball toward the net, but was deflected and got past Coyotes' GK Priscilla Collings.

The goal was credited to Tabler as Rule 10:4:2 cites "a player whose shot is deflected into the goal by the goalkeeper or a defender receives credit for the goal, provided the momentum of the shot carried the ball into the net.''

Chico State padded its lead to 2-0  on Jenny Konishi's blast from 25 yards past Collings' left side in the 82nd minute.

The Coyotes had three shots on goal for the game -- all in the second half.

Defender Jill Wierzbicki and midfielder Sierra Van Meter each had two shots and each had a SOG. Jillian Seminara also had a SOG -- coming on a free kick.

The Coyotes' Senior Day begins approximately at 2 p.m. Sunday. They will honor Collings, Jani Carmona-Urbano, Priscilla Gomez, Allison Pena, Amanda Villavicencio and Ashley Wolf.
