SAN BERNARDINO
-- Senior Angela Streets entered Friday's game against Humboldt State needing just one point to surpass the 400-point level in her two-year career.

She easily handled that plateau. And thensome.

Streets pumped in 34 points -- tied for 7th on the school's all-time single-game charts -- and scored six 3-pointers as the Coyotes fell short in their game against the Lumberjacks, 71-65 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play at Coussoulis Arena.

Streets was 12 of 25 from the floor and 6 of 14  from the 3-point stripe for the most points scored by a Coyote since Vanessa Wilt tied the school record with 39 against Cal State L.A. on Jan. 14, 2008. Her six 3-pointers were one behind Krystal Urzua's school record seven set against Biola on Dec. 19. 2009.

The Lumberjacks (12-3 overall, 8-3 CCAA) earned the victory by hitting 48.1 percent from the field and a 52-percent effort in the second half. Whitney Howard's 15 led the way and she was followed by Kayla Williams with 14, Lisa Petty 11 and Caitie Richards 10.

The Coyotes took control of the game in the first half and led at the break, 37-34, but HSU came out of the gate in the second half determined.

A 9-0 scoring run gave the Jacks the lead for good when Lexxi Price hit a jumper to put the Jacks up 43-37 with 16:55 left.

The Coyotes tied the game just once and six times pulled to within a point, only to be denied.

On the sixth and final time, graduate student Eliza Dy hit a jumper to make the score 61-60 with 4:14 left.

Howard then answered with a basket, and after a Dy missed layup, Howard hit the front end of a bonus with 3:20 left.

The Coyotes (5-10, 4-7) could not make up the gap as they missed their next five shots and committed a turnover in the next two-plus minutes.

Dy finished with 17, but only three other Coyotes were in the scoring column -- freshman Briana Baker with six, and junior Kenisha McKee and freshman Shayna Stuart with four each.

The Coyotes look to put aside the loss as they take on Sonoma State on Saturday. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m.
