SAN BERNARDINO -- Graduate student
Eliza Dy scored a game-high 22 points and junior
Jaslyn Cosey added 13, but the Coyotes were stopped by visiting Sonoma State 54-46 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play Saturday night.
The Coyotes are now 5-11 overall and 4-8 in the CCAA and hit the road this week with games Thursday at San Francisco State and Saturday at Cal Poly Pomona.
One night after senior
Angela Streets scored 34, she struggled against the Seawolves. She was just 2 of 20 from the floor and hit just one 3-pointer in 14 attempts. She finished with five points.
However, this was a game that hung in the balance as the Coyotes led 40-36 with 8:10 remaining after Cosey drained a 3-pointer.
Sonoma State immediately responded with a 9-0 run, helped by Elizabeth Day's consecutive layups. The Seawolves never let the lead get less than three afterward.
The Coyotes shot just 26.5 percent from the floor (18 of 68) and had their bench outscored by the Seawolves, 30-0.
Jaclyn Bisordi led the Seawolves with 12 points. Tori Carroll had 10.
