LOS ANGELES -- The Coyotes nearly overcame two penalty kicks by seventh-ranked Cal State L.A., but the host Eagles scored two goals inside the final 10 minutes of play and defeated the Coyotes 4-2 in CCAA South Division soccer Friday night.
The loss places the Coyotes at 2-4-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the CCAA, while CSULA improved to 5-0-2 and 3-0-2.

The Golden Eagles broke through in the 18th minute. Freshman
Dylan Faggioni was called for the penalty and Antti Arvola scored and CSULA led 1-0.
The score would remain 1-0 CSULA through halftime, but the Coyotes tied the game at the 54-minute mark. Defenseman
Corey Hostetter scored his first goal of the year off a feed from
Martin Esqueda when Hostetter shot inside the box to the lower left corner.
Ten minutes later, CSULA earned its second penalty kick of the night and Arvola again made the Coyotes pay with a goal and the Eagles led 2-1.
Freshman
Ricky Prouty tied the game at 2-2 at the 71-minute mark. He scored unassisted on a loose ball inside the box and shot to the lower right and past GK Waleed Cassis.
But the game-winning goal went to Jason Swope, who scored at 81:15 on a through ball on the lower right. The Golden Eagles score another with 25 seconds left in the game from Rosario Bras.
CSUSB was out-shot 12-8 and had four SOG. Olinger had two saves for the Coyotes.
Marco Martinez led CSUSB with three shots and Hostetter had two.
