SAN FRANCISCO --
Julio Ayala scored his first goal of the season for the Coyotes, but they had a difficult Sunday afternoon after losing 2-1 to San Francisco State in CCAA men's soccer.
The Coyotes, who are now 1-3 overall and 1-3 in the CCAA, will play at Dominican University on Wednesday in nonconference play before playing at Cal State L.A. on Friday.
The Gators (2-2-2, 1-1-1) got on the scoreboard in the game's 12th minute when Luis Mendoza scored on a penalty kick.
SFSU remained ahead at halftime until Ayala struck to tie the game.
In the 69th minute, freshman
Ricky Prouty sent the ball over to Ayala, who shot over SFSU GK Eric Scolam from 20 yards out.
However, the tie would be shortlived as SFSU struck back with a goal one minute later from Saman Assadi.
CSUSB totaled 12 shots to SFSU's 15. The Coyotes had six SOG.
Jordan Rodino had two SOG for the Coyotes, but no other player had more than one.
