ARCATA – The Cal State San Bernardino softball team sustained a sweep at the hands of host Humboldt State, losing the opener 5-0 and the second, 6-4.
CSUSB is 30-21 and 17-17 in the CCAA and will play the Lumberjacks in the teams' final CCAA doubleheader Friday. They will finish the trip with a 7-inning nonconference game Saturday.
In the opener, the Jacks' scored three runs in the first off Coyotes' starter
Brianne Godfredson, who threw just the first inning. HSU later added two runs in the fifth.
CSUSB had just three hits in the game – a double from
Alex Mitchell and singles from
Courtney Wilhelms and
Alyssa Flores.
In the second game, CSUSB held a 1-0 lead through three innings when
Stefanie Pace scored on an error by the catcher. HSU struck with a two-run fourth, one run in the fifth and three in the sixth.
Trailing 6-1 in the seventh, the Coyotes closed the gap with three runs on two hits.
Jamie Roland and Mitchell each had RBI.
Flores had two hits in the loss.
