ST. GEORGE, Utah -- Tyson Littlewood's grand slam in the 10th inning gave host Dixie State a 6-2 victory over Cal State San Bernardino in the teams' series finale Saturday.
CSUSB took a 2-0 lead in the first.
Matt Winn's triple to left center scored
David Silvas and Winn later scored on a wild pitch.
DSC tied the game at 2-2 in the second on Amman Zitting's two-run single.
The game became a battle on the mound as both teams played shut-out ball through the ninth inning. Coyotes starter LHP Corey Caruso threw six innings and gave up six hits and struck out four and walked two.
Trevor Longfellow was outstanding in relief as he gave up no hits in three innings of relief.
Brandon Day was 3-for-4 and
Mike Newell,
Bryce Holland and
Ethan Chapman contributed to the Coyotes' seven hits.
The Coyotes (2-4) begin CCAA play this week with a four-game series at home against Cal State Stanislaus. First pitch on Friday is at 3 p.m.
