SAN BERNARDINO -- The series between the Coyotes and Sonoma State has been a one-sided affair throughout its history with Sonoma State leading 16-0-1 entering Friday's game.
The outcome didn't turn in Cal State San Bernardino's favor, but the Coyotes nearly earned their first win in the all-time series and earned a 1-1 tie in double OT before 256 at Coyote Premier Field.
CSUSB, now 5-8-2 overall and 3-8-2 in the CCAA, will complete the weekend Sunday against Humboldt State. Sonoma State is 9-4-2, 8-3-2.
The teams played to a scoreless tie through the first 45 minutes and the Coyotes were the first to get a lead.

Derek Taddei was on the receiving end of a cross form
Nicholas Harb and punched in the ball from within two feet for the 1-0 lead.
The Coyotes fought off the Sonoma State charge through most of the second half, until Taylor Varnadore's goal in the 75th minute tied the game at 1-1.
Sonoma State had three shots in the two overtimes and CSUSB had one. For the game, SSU outshot the Coyotes 23-9.
Harb and Taddei each had two shots for CSUSB. Varnadore had eight with three SOG.
