Coyotes women roll over Cal State Monterey Bay, 4-0

Jasmine Bell scores match-winner and assists on another goal for CSUSB

Casey Hirsch scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season in CSUSB's 4-0 win over Monterey Bay Sunday.
Two freshmen and a sophomore provided much of the spark for Cal State San Bernardino's women's soccer team Sunday as the Coyotes shut out Cal State Monterey Bay, 4-0, on a hot, humid afternoon at Coyote Premier Field.
Freshman Diana Enriquez scored her third goal of the season and assisted on another while sophomore Jasmine Bell scored the match-deciding goal on a header and assisted on Enriquez' score. Another freshman, Sierra Van Meter finished the scoring for CSUSB in the 80th minute.
Senior Casey Hirsch notched her team-leading fourth goal of the season off an assist by junior Jani Carmona, one of two assists for Carmona on the afternoon.
With the win, CSUSB swept its weekend opponents to improve to 4-5-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association's South Division. The Otters are now 2-7 overall and 1-7 in the CCAA.
Coyotes goalkeepers Chelsey Jones and Tiffany Mallick shared the shutout, each playing one half with Jones making two saves and Mallick three. Monterey Bay mustered just seven shots while the Coyotes peppered Otters keeper Diana Zambrano with 20 shots, 11 of which were on goal. Zambrano saved seven tries.
CSUSB hits the road next weekend, starting at Cal State Stanislaus on Friday.
