Box Score: No. 14 Coyotes 2, CSU Dominguez Hills 2 2OT
SAN BERNARDINO --
Brittany Wilding found herself on the receiving end of a pass from Jani Carmona with just 30 seconds remaining in regulation and the No. 14-ranked Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes went on to tie visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills 2-2 in 2OT on a blistering hot day at Premier Field on Friday.
The Coyotes are 5-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, while the Toros are now 5-1-1, 3-1-1.
Just 10 minutes into the game, the Coyotes'
Casey Hirsch drove in on the right side of Toros' GK Alyssa Congdon and fired a shot past Congdon's right side and CSUSB took an early 1-0 lead.
CSUDH's Brooke Thompson tied the game at the 32nd minute on a header that was assisted by Jessica Murphy and Danielle Shoemaker.
The teams went into the half at 1 apiece until Taylor Canatsey gave the Toros a 2-1 lead in the 46th minute. From 35 yards, she placed just outside the reach of Coyotes' GK
Tiffany Mallick.
It appeared that the Coyotes would face a defeat, but Wilding changed that thought inside the final minute.
Carmona placed the ball up front of Congdon and Wilding was in the right place at the right time and placed the shot for the tie.
CSUSB fired off five shots in the opening OT, cut couldn't convert. The Toros had five shots of their own in the second OT, but couldn't get past Mallick.
The Coyotes return to play Sunday when they face visiting Cal State L.A. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
