HAYWARD —
After spending most of Saturday waiting out the rain, Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State East Bay completed the second game of a doubleheader and then finished the doubleheader scheduled for Sunday.

The Coyotes (6-9, 5-3 CCAA) won the first of three games with a 6-0 win over the Pioneers (4-8, 4-8 CCAA) before falling 4-6 and winning 6-1 to close out the day.

After three scoreless innings in a game that was postponed by darkness the day before, the Coyote bats came alive early Sunday, scoring six runs in the first two innings played.

CSUSB scored four runs in the top of the fourth to jump out to a 4-0 lead. Felicia Cervantes drove in the first run of the game with a fielder's choice before Stefanie Pace launched a three-run home run. Then in the fifth, Jacquelyn Holtzclaw hit a two-run shot, scoring Britney Butler who singled in the at bat before her.

That was all the ammunition the Coyotes needed as Cassidy Lee tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits in seven innings of work. She also struck out eight of the 23 batters she faced.

The Pioneers scored five runs in the first two innings of the second game to lead 5-1 through two innings of play, but the Coyotes rallied to score three in the top of the third.

Holtzclaw got the two-out rally started with a single to center and stole second before Courtney Wilhelms drove her in with a single to right. Collinwood then ripped a double to center to score Wilhelms before Collinwood crossed the plate on a Cervantes single to left field.

Unfortunately, that was the last of the offense for the Coyotes as the Pioneers added another run in the bottom of the fourth to close out the game.

Erica Godfreson took the loss after throwing 1.2 innings. The sophomore rebounded in the final game of the series with a win to move her record to 2-2 on the year. She tossed the final 2.2 innings in the final game, allowing just one hit.

CSUSB scored first in the third game when Holtzclaw singled to right to score Alex Mitchell who singled in the top of the fifth.

The Pioneers tied the game in the bottom half of the inning with a home run, but the Coyotes put the game away in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs. Holtzclaw drove in Mitchell with a single to right before Butler scored on a CSUEB error. Holtzclaw made it 4-1 when she crossed the plate on a Collinwood single to center before Wilhelms scored on a Cervantes ground out. Priscilla Curiel put the finishing touches on the game with a single to short to score Collinwood.

Holtzclaw went 5-for-11 on the day with four RBIs and a home run while Curiel went 5-for-9 with an RBI and a double.

The Coyotes will now travel to Cal State Monterey Bay for a four-game series Friday and Saturday.
