Box Score: Coyotes 68, Hope International 46

FULLERTON -- Senior Eisha Sheppard opened the 2010-11 women's basketball season in style for Cal State San Bernardino with 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists as the Coyotes routed Hope International 68-46 in nonconference play Saturday night.

A 10-2 run with 3:22 to go in the first half put CSUSB out front 24-10 on Jessica Dela Cruz' 3-pointer. Sheppard gave the Coyotes a 29-15 halftime lead when she hit a 3-pointer with eight seconds left.

CSUSB's lead only dipped below 10 points once in the second half.

Senior Sabrina Gonzalez scored 12 points for CSUSB as 11 players scored and 15 saw playing time for coach Kevin Becker's squad.

Lauren Salazar scored 11 for HIU.

The Coyotes return to the court Friday when they participate in the UC San Diego Thanksgiving Tournament. They will face Notre Dame de Namur at 5 p.m. and wrap-up play Saturday against Western New Mexico.
