Coyotes dominate Cal State East Bay in three sets

CSUSB closes regular season with Senior Night vs. UC San Diego

– No. 6 Cal State San Bernardino nearly played a perfect game Friday night and the Coyotes came up big.

Behind the strength of Nicole Moore's 14 kills, the Coyotes brought down visiting Cal State East Bay 3-0 in CCAA play before 671 at Coussoulis Arena.

The Coyotes, who won 25-14, 25-14, 25-18 for the 11th straight time, defeated the team that dealt CSUSB its only conference defeat this season. CSUSB improved to 24-2 overall and 20-1 heading into the regular-season finale against UC San Diego on Saturday.

The Pioneers are now 19-7, 14-7 and were only 31-22-82 (.110) on the attack. Five players had negative attack percentages for the match and they had four service errors.

CSUSB fired an impressive .451 attack percentage (40-8-71) in earning the 70-minute victory. It forced 22 Pioneer attack errors and were in control from the beginning.

All-American Samantha Middleborn was 9-0-11 on the attack and will remain the nation's top attack percentage hitter again. She entered play No. 1 at .474.

Junior Megan Johnson led the way in blocks with five block assists and threw down six kills.

The Coyotes have now won their last 42 matches at home and their 32nd consecutive CCAA match.

The Pioneers' Katie Allen had eight kills. Roxanne Neely had 7.

MEDIA NOTES: The Coyotes will honor seniors Jane Chafeh and Nicole Moore in a prematch ceremony Saturday against UC San Diego...
