No. 4 Coyotes upset at No. 25 Cal State East Bay in five games

-- Despite Nicole Moore's 19 kills and All-American Samantha Middleborn's four solo blocks, the No. 4 CSU San Bernardino Coyotes were upset by No. 25 CSU East Bay, 3-2, in California Collegiate Athletic Association volleyball Saturday night.

The loss was CSUSB's first in CCAA play this season. The Coyotes are now 13-2 overall and 11-1 in the CCAA, while the Pioneers improved to 12-4, 7-4 with the 26-24, 14-25, 25-23, 19-25, 15-13 victory.

The five-game match was CSUSB's first since winning 3-2 against Cal Baptist on Nov. 12, 2009 and the first 5-game CCAA match since UCSD defeated the Coyotes in five on Sept. 26. 2008.

All-American Jane Chafeh had 16 kills, while Middleborn and Megan Johnson each had 13. Libero Kelcie Tolan had 20 digs and setter Camille Smith had a season-high 61 assists.
