SAN BERNARDINO -- A first-half goal from San Francisco State's Michelle Spinner was all the scoring provided and it cost the host Cal State San Bernardino in a 1-0 loss in California Collegiate Athletic Association women's soccer.
The loss was CSUSB's fourth straight as the Coyotes (5-5-1 overall, 3-5-1 CCAA) look to bounce back when they play host to CSU Monterey Bay on Sunday. Kickoff is 2 p.m.
The Gators improved to 7-2-2, 6-2-1.
Spinner put SFSU on top for good when she delivered her goal in the game's 31st minute. Teammate Myriah Johnson worked her way down the left side of the field and found Spinner in the clear, right in front of Coyotes GK Tiffany Mallick. The Gator planted in front and drove home her shot past Mallick's right side.
CSUSB had 10 shots on the day with six SOG. Jani Carmona had two shots to lead the way.
Mallick was replaced to begin the second half by Jessica Mortola, who had three saves in her 45 minutes.
Gators GK Annica Jones had six saves for her shutout.
