SAN BERNARDINO
-- Accolades and records have been a continuing story for the Cal State San Bernardino women's volleyball program. On Saturday night, the Coyotes added another chapter to their success story over the last decade.

Led by junior All-American Samantha Middleborn's match-high nine kills, the No. 8-ranked Coyotes overwhelmed visiting Humboldt State 3-0 to clinch their fifth consecutive California Collegiate Athletic Association title and eighth championship in the last 10 years.

The victory also secures an NCAA Tourament berth as the conference's regular-season champion earns the automatic berth for the tourney that begins Nov. 18.

The Coyotes were matter-of-fact in their 25-13, 25-7, 25-15 decision over the Lumberjacks (1-20, 1-16). The match took just 63 minutes and was a one-sided affair. CSUSB did not have an attack error in the second set (11-0-19) and were in complete control from beginning to end.

Senior Nicole Moore had an error-free match with eight kills on 16 attempts, good for a .500 percentage. Senior All-American Jane Chafeh threw down seven kills and had a .400 effort on the night.

Sophomore setter Camille Smith led with 28 assists and was 4-0-5 on the attack. The error-free match by Smith was her 16th on the season as she kept the Lumberjacks' honest with quick shots that went down for kills.

Junior libero Kelcie Tolan led the match with 10 digs and Middleborn had three block assists.

Taylor Manuel and Oceana Matsubu each had six kills for HSU.
