SAN BERNARDINO
-- The good times keep rolling for No. 6 Cal State San Bernardino and Sunday was no different as senior Jose Godinez provided the game's only scoring as the Coyotes defeated visiting UC San Diego 1-0 on Senior Day in California Collegiate Athletic Association soccer.

The Coyotes' Tanner Olinger has not given up a goal in his last 442 minutes and 13 seconds of action. An opponent has not scored upon Olinger and the Coyote defense since the 11:18 mark of CSUSB's 3-1 win over CSU Monterey Bay on Oct. 10.

It was a hard-fought game on the Coyote Premier Field pitch, but the Coyotes were the ones who had the upper-hand on a cool, overcast day in north San Bernardino. Freshman Julio Ayala fired a shot in the game's 41st minute that hit the post and Godinez scooped up the ball and fired it past GK Josh Cohen.

The goal was Godinez' fifth of the season and an appropriate way to enjoy Senior Day along with his other eight classmates.

The weekend sweep over Cal State East Bay (Friday) and UCSD will keep the Coyotes among the country's top 10 and maintain their status as the NCAA West Region's top team when the regional poll is released Tuesday. The top four teams in the final poll on Nov. 8 will advance to the 32-team NCAA tourney.

The game was CSUSB's Senior Day. Nine seniors -- Arath De La Rocha, Chris Young, Jose Godinez, Zach Walker, Jorge Aguirre, Albert Cabrera, Obi Agwu, Harry Cruz and Tyler Kahn were honored in a pregame ceremon.

GAME NOTES: The Coyotes will be taking Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday and it will be an interesting game for several reasons. Posteason hopes are on the line line with both clubs in playoff contention. The Toros (10-4-2, 8-4-2) found themselves lacking the necessary minimum amount of Division II regular-season games played and to make up that difference will play at the University of Hawaii Hilo on Monday.
