SAN FRANCISCO
-- A week ago, a one-day trip to the Bay Area set back the Cal State San Bernardino volleyball squad as the Coyotes lost in five games to CSU East Bay.

Friday night the Coyotes faced a determined San Francisco State squad, but CSUSB opened the weekend with a five-game win over the Gators in CCAA play.

The eighth-ranked Coyotes improved to 14-2 overall and remained in first place in the CCAA at 11-1 heading into Saturday night's match at CSU Monterey Bay.

All-American Samantha Middleborn paced the Coyotes with 13 kills and 10 block assists, while the Coyotes' other All-American Jane Chafeh had 18 kills in their 25-15, 25-21, 23-25, 20-25, 15-8 victory.

Megan Johnson had a big night on the court with 15 kills and an attack percentage of .333 (15/5/30).

Leading 2 games to none, Set 3 was tied at 19-each when the Gators edged out front with three points.

Nicole Moore's kill cut SFSU's lead to 24-23,  but a service error from Chafeh gave the set to SFSU.

At 15-15, SFSU slowly pulled ahead and went on to tie the match at 2-2 at 25-20.

CSUSB didn't give SFSU a chance for the win in Set 5. The Coyotes grabbed the lead early at 4-3, then posted a 9-0 run with three kills from Chafeh and went on to win.
