Agwu scores twice; CSUSB up 3-0 in first 17 minutes, now 7-2 overall

Daniel Rodriguez scored CSUSB's first goal in 7-0 win over East Bay.

Cal State San Bernardino took advantage of the 100-degree heat and the Cal State East Bay defense Friday en route to a 7-0 CCAA conference men's soccer victory over the Pioneers at Coyote Premier Field.
Junior Obi Agwu scored twice as the Coyotes, ranked No. 6 in the West Region, improved to 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the CCAA, playing everyone available on the bench to stay fresh for Sunday's home encounter with UC San Diego at 11:30 a.m.
The loss put the Pioneers at 1-8 overall and 0-5 in the CCAA thus far in the school's first season as an NCAA Division II competitor after several years of competing as an independent in Division III.
CSUSB put up 24 shots to just four for East Bay and the Pioneer goalie tandem of Billy Morales and Cesar Villa had a combined 10 saves.
Senior defender Mark Peters scored his first goal of the season and assisted on another by senior midfielder Jeremiah Marquez. Senior Daniel Rodriguez started the goal parade with a one-timed shot from a feed by Albert Cabrera just 5:08 into the match.
CSUSB was up 3-0 in the first 17 minutes.
