SEASIDE -- Cal State San Bernardino was glad to get out of town Sunday after losing both ends of their Sunday, non-conference doubleheader be the slimmest of margins, 4-3 and 1-0, to leave Cal State Monterey Bay with six straight losses.
Perhaps the most frustrating loss was Sunday's second game in which the Coyotes mustered just four hits, two of them by
Debbie Shisler.
Shisler pitched solidly, going six innings, giving up six hits but one blow cost the Coyotes the game, a solo home run by Shea Olds in the fourth. Jessica Moon and Jessica Boyle combined for the shutout with Boyle getting the save in the seventh for the Otters.
In the opener, CSUSB sophomore left-hander
Cassidy Lee made her 2009 debut in the circle and pitched a complete game, going six innings, giving up just six hits and was touched for four runs, two of them on a home run by Lucia Rodriguez.
CSUSB was helped by
Jacquelyn Holtzclaw's two-run double. The Coyotes stranded 11 runners in the game. The Coyotes headed home with a six-game losing streak, all to the Otters and are now 9-17 on the season, 4-8 in the CCAA as they prepare to host San Francisco State on Friday.
