SAN BERNARDINO -- Cal State San Bernardino scored a second-half goal and its defense limited visiting Cal State Stanislaus to just three shots in 90 minutes as the Coyotes defeated the Warriors, 1-0, in a CCAA conference women's soccer match Sunday at Coyote Premier Field.
The victory gives the Coyotes an 8-6-2 record on the season and a 7-3-2 record in CCAA play, good for 23 points, leaving them at least one point shy of third-place Cal State
Dominguez Hills in the South Division.
Cal State Stanislaus, which dropped a 3-2 decision to Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, is now 7-8-1 overall and 3-8-1 in the CCAA North Division.
It was the first win by the Coyotes over the Warriors since 2004.
CSUSB, ranked No. 5 in the NCAA West Region, outshot the Warriors 13-3 but Warriors goalkeeper Jessica Sitarz stopped five shots.
The match remained scoreless until the 51st minute when junior forward
Unity Beddingfield collected a pass from junior
Katie Liby, dribbled to her left past the onrushing goalkeeper and struck a left-footed shot into the net from near the 18-yard line. It was Beddingfield's third match-deciding goal of the season and her fourth goal overall.
