SAN BERNARDINO -- Cal State San Bernardino scored a second-half goal and its defense limited visiting Cal State Stanislaus to just three shots in 90 minutes as the Coyotes defeated the Warriors, 1-0, in a CCAA conference women's soccer match Sunday at Coyote Premier Field. 
    The victory gives the Coyotes an 8-6-2 record on the season and a 7-3-2 record in CCAA play, good for 23 points, leaving them at least one point shy of third-place Cal State
Dominguez Hills in the South Division. 
    Cal State Stanislaus, which dropped a 3-2 decision to Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, is now 7-8-1 overall and 3-8-1 in the CCAA North Division. 
    It was the first win by the Coyotes over the Warriors since 2004.
CSUSB, ranked No. 5 in the NCAA West Region, outshot the Warriors 13-3 but Warriors goalkeeper Jessica Sitarz stopped five shots. 
    The match remained scoreless until the 51st minute when junior forward Unity Beddingfield collected a pass from junior Katie Liby, dribbled to her left past the onrushing goalkeeper and struck a left-footed shot into the net from near the 18-yard line. It was Beddingfield's third match-deciding goal of the season and her fourth goal overall. 
    Coyotes goalkeeper Laura Lyons made three saves on shots by the Warriors' Alisa Barlow, Kim DiNardo and Kayln Pottorff to record her fourth shutout of the season. 
    CSUSB's strong defensive play was highlighted by the work of redshirt freshman Ashley Wolf, senior Ashley Salas, senior Lisa Montgomery and Jenna Sanchez along with midfielder Jaclyn Clark. 
    The Coyotes will be on the road to play at UC San Diego on Friday and then head for the Bay Area to play Cal State East Bay in Hayward on Sunday.
