Cal State San Bernardino, ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II, takes on three nationally-ranked teams this week in an effort to solidify its position as a contender for regional and national titles.
The Coyotes, 12-0 overall and 5-0 in the CCAA, defeated No. 20 Cal Poly Pomona, 3-1, on Wednesday night. CSUSB now travels to UC San Diego to take on the No. 16 UC San Diego Tritons at 7 p.m. Friday. Then it's back to Coussoulis Arena for a Saturday clash with Cal Baptist, 15-1, currently the No. 2 team in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics). That match will be webstreamed via the CSUSB campus website. Go to

The Coyotes are one of just five women's volleyball teams in NCAA Division II who carry an unbeaten record into this week's play. Last week, there were 15 unbeaten teams in the division.
VS. RANKED TEAMS – CSUSB has defeated No. 2 Concordia St. Paul (2007 national champion), No. 20 Cal Poly Pomona and No. 21 Lewis University.
CSUSB VS. UC SAN DIEGO – The two schools have met 43 times dating back to both schools' days in NCAA Division III and the Tritons lead the series 30-13. However, the teams are deadlocked at 11-11 over their last 22 meetings. They split in 2007, each winning on the other's home court. The Coyotes won at La Jolla 3-0 and UCSD won in Coussoulis 3-2. The teams have clashed in the post-season with the Tritons defeating CSUSB in the 2001 regional final and the 2006 regional final. CSUSB prevailed over UCSD in the 2004 regional final and the 2002 regional semifinal.
CSUSB VS. CAL BAPTIST – The Coyotes lead the series 12-9. CSUSB won 3-0 in 2006 in Coussoulis Arena while the Lancers defeated CSUSB 3-1 in 2007, knocking it out of the No. 1 ranking in the nation and ending its unbeaten streak to open the season at 9-0.
