Top-ranked Cal State San Bernardino swept past Chico State Friday night, 3-0, to improve its 2008 women's volleyball record to 10-0, 3-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
The Coyotes were led by junior outside hitter
Ashtin Hall who had a match-high 15 kills in 29 attacks for a .414 hitting percentage. Senior middle hitter
Sara Rice had 10 kills on .529 hitting as CSUSB prevailed 25-22, 25-19 and 25-16 over the Wildcats.
Chico State, now 8-5 overall and 1-2 in the CCAA, was led by Crystal Trifeletti and Lindsay Macias with seven kills each. Setter Erica Brick had 23 assists. The Wildcats hit .176 for the match to .333 for the Coyotes, ranked No. 1 in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for the past three weeks.

Meghan Haas had a match-high 21 digs. Rice, freshman middle blocker Samantha Middleborn and Hoffman each had three block assists.
Chico put up a stout fight in the first set which was tied 11 times. Chico took a 10-6 lead on a kill by Macias but CSUSB caught up at 13-=13 on a kill by Hall. The last tie was at 20-20 on a CSUSB service error.
The Wildcats led in the second set 10-7 on another kill by Macias but the Coyotes fought back to tie on back to back aces by CSUSB senior right side hitter
Jessica Granados. The set was tied at 14-all before Hoffman served an ace and CSUSB never trailed again.
The Coyotes jumped out to a 12-5 lead in game three and were up 20-12 on a shared block by Middleborn and
Jane Chafeh.
CSUSB will host Cal State Stanislaus at 7 p.m. Saturday night while the Wildcats play at Cal Poly Pomona.
