Nationally-ranked Sonoma State stroked 21 hits, 19 of them singles Friday, en route to a 14-9 drubbing of Cal State San Bernardino in the opening game of their four-game CCAA baseball series at Arrowhead Credit Union Park. It was the 12th win in a row for SSU.
The Seawolves, No. 2 in the West Region in a writer's poll and No. 10 in the nation, are now 18-1 on the season and 7-0 in the CCAA while the Coyotes slipped to 10-9 overlal and 2-6 in the conference. The two teams will play a doubleheader at 11 a.m. Saturday and conclude the series at noon on Sunday.
After the Coyotes took a 2-0 lead in the first, Sonoma State scored 10 runs to take a 10-3 lead after six innings. The Coyotes, down 12-3, scored four times in the eighth to make it 12-7 but the Seawolves produced two more runs in the ninth to ice the game.
Each team went through four pitchers in the game which lasted 3 hours and 55 minutes.

Matt Long (2-4) pitched into the fifth inning and allowed six runs on 10 singles and a booming double by SSU senior Tyrese McDaniel. Matt Means (4-0) went 5.2 innings and gave up four runs on eight hits to get the win.
Coyotes first baseman
Jason Klug went three-for-six with a double and three RBIs while left fielder Mike Minjares went three-for-five with two stolen bases, two runs scored and an RBI.
Four Seawolves -- Ian Bridges, Kris Haycock, Mark Pestorich and Kyle Jones -- each had three hits. Cameron Cook, Pestorich and Bridges each knocked in three runs. Haycock and David Adler each scored three times.
